Moto Guzzi Depreciation (2024)

Having owned 2 late model Guzzi's (2013 V7 Special and 2015 Griso 8v) and having spent 3 years selling them at a dealer, I can basically confirm 2 things -
1. Guzzi's are great
2. Guzzi's depreciate like astronaut poop falling out of orbit

In general I think the Stelivo especially is a wonderful motorcycle with a huge gas tank (although mediocre at best economy so the range isn't that impressive) great, characterful engine, comfortable seat and ergos etc. Built like a tank too - I've seen them take quite a bit of abuse. Spend some time reading on forums like GuzziTech or GrisoGhetto and you'll find lots of talk about the various issues people have and the various cheap and cheerful fixes that exist for many of them. The only "big" problem I can think of is the ~pre 2013 8v motor flat tappet cam issue. YMMV, some people make that out to be the end of the world, others have done thousands and thousands of miles on their supposedly "ticking time bomb" flattie bikes.

I can say in the time I spent working at the dealer, I almost NEVER sold a Guzzi of any kind without being insistent on a test ride first (it's funny how some people are so excited to buy something/anything they don't even want a test ride). Guzzi's are truly a "love it or hate it" motorcycle and because they can be a harder piece to get rid of later financially, you don't really want to find out you're not in the "love it" camp after you've bought one :)
